High quality evidence based mental health care with a human touch.

My name is Shahnawaz Ali. I am a Nurse Practitioner that has been specializing in psychiatry and addiction care over my 15 year career in Nursing. I have a wide range of clinical experiences in hospital and community settings, allowing me to work with all ages and conditions. I completed my Master’s of Nursing at the University of Toronto where I continue to teach fellow Nurse Practitioners advanced mental health and addiction care as a leader in the field.

Through my work in multiple psychiatric inpatient and outpatient departments across Canada, I have had training in cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing. I have spent several years working in the community at the Canadian Mental Health Association specializing in addiction care. The last few years have been focused on clinical and director roles at several private clinics across the Greater Toronto Area primarily focused on psychiatric services, psychadelic assisted therapy, and men’s health care. I have combined my knowledge from both public and private systems to build a stronger foundation for high quality comprehensive functional health care that not only focuses on disease correction, but also enhancing our well being.

Whether it's ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, or trauma, I provide supportive, rational care to help explore bottlenecks, build coping strategies, and create meaningful change. Using a supportive and exploratory approach, we uncover challenges together and build practical tools to address them. I pride myself in not being affiliated with any pharmacologic companies or corporations, allowing for unbiased assessments and trustworthy recommendations. My network of professionals that I have connected with over my career allows me to make referrals to specialized colleagues and treatment programs. I am able to diagnose, prescribe medication, provide therapy and coaching, complete forms and documentation, and make referrals to provide complete care.

In my work, I make an effort and take the time to look at root causes and empower clients with choices for treatment. I practice with a holistic and functional lens, using treatments tailored to unique individual needs which can include suplements, lifestyle modifications, coaching, medication, and more. I view each of my clients as humans, not just a collection of diagnoses. I take the time to truly understand your story - your challenges, your strengths, and your goals. Through comprehensive assessment and attentive listening, I work to understand not just what you're experiencing, but how it impacts your life and what matters most to you. I value your time and appreciate your support.

On a personal note, I live in Georgetown, Ontario with my wife and 2 kids. I love nature, hiking, traveling, food, video games, and music. My cultural background is Pakistani and I have spent the majority of my life in Canada and earlier in UAE.
